The first three this week each regard the issue of "the heart" in 1 Samuel:
- Check out Nazim Bouadjemi (a pastor at the Central Maryland Vineyard) and his latest teaching: "King Saul's Heart"
- Check out Nick Sutton (senior pastor at the Coventry Vineyard UK) and his talk entitled: "A Heart After God"
see you next week!
"I was scared" Nazim emphasizes, speaking of a man who presumed to sit in an office where he had not been placed. I think Samuel was trying to invoke power that he had not been given when he performed the sacrifice; he did not comprehend that things had to be done after the form that had been given. We are under Grace, not law, now, but the principle is the same -- not an argument for legalism; but rather for the picture behind the law. The "form" is about those things you put yourselves forward as seeking - mercy, justice, real back-to-back fellowship, etc.
